Principal -Mrs. Jonann Torsey
I have lived my whole life immersed in the awesome culture and climate of the lakes region of New Hampshire. I have a B.A. in Chemistry from St. Anselm College in Manchester, NH, and a MEd. in Science Education, as well as, a CAGS in School Leadership from Plymouth State University. I taught Chemistry at the New Hampton School for 24 years, serving as Academic Dean/Dean of Faculty for the last 12 of those years. Following NHS, I served as a teaching principal at Piermont Village School for 7 years prior to coming to Russell Elementary School in the summer of 2014.
At RES, we strive to engage all students in rich learning experiences including student government, robotics, world languages through Middlebury online courses, community-based learning experiences that embrace our geographic location, and immersion in authentic reading, writing, and problem-solving at each students’ preferred level. The Rumney Community and Russell Elementary School staff and students are beyond compare! Our teachers are talented and experienced, and exceptionally dedicated to the growth of their students; we are motivated to serve our community every day.
Please remember to screen your students at home every day before sending them to school.

Please keep them home and follow the NHDHHS guidelines by contacting their physician for an evaluation and/or testing as required.
This is part of our RES reopening plan and allows us to keep the school open and all of us healthy and safe.

I am in my sixth year as a Russell Elementary Bear! This is my fourth year as a special education teacher! I have taught primary grades and also worked in a resource room. I LOVE to read and to teach my students how to improve their reading skills! I have two children who I love to read with and enjoy skiing in the winter.

Special Education 5-8 - Mrs. Carla Demler
I grew up traveling the world as an army brat before making New Hampshire my forever home. I have always enjoyed helping others and watching them grow. When outside the classroom you are likely to find me cooking or with my head in a book. I hope to spark that love of reading in my students as well.

Speech - Ms. Cammey Keyser
I am entering my second year as a Speech-Language Pathologist at Russell Elementary School and Wentworth Elementary School. Prior to joining the RES and WES teams, I spent one year working in Middlebury, Vermont. I love helping children learn to communicate effectively and am very passionate about working with my students. My favorite part about my job is watching my student's communication abilities grow over time!
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy being outside with my dog, Axel, running, and spending time with friends and family.
